Wine Tour of the Mornington Peninsula – Ladies Visiting from Western Australia

Private Wine Tour

Saturday, 27th May 2017

This group of friends from Western Australia decided to go on a wine tour of the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Starting in Tuerong with a cellar door visit we then moved on to Merricks North, Red Hill South and then finishing the winery tour in Dromana for a wine tasting followed by a visit to the iconic Mornington Peninsula boat shed / beach boxes on the foreshore.

Some of the beautiful wineries visited were:

Rare Hare (Home of Willow Creek Wines) for a delicous lunch and barrel room wine tasting

Yabby Lake Winery  in Tuerong for a cellar door visit and wine tasting

Port Phillip Estate for a cellar door wine tasting and amazing views

Trofeo Estate for a cellar door tasting of the unique terracotta wines.

“Fantastic Wine Tour of the Mornington Peninsula”
Absolutely loved Elevate Wine Tours!! If you want to see the Mornington Peninsula in style with a knowledgable fun tour guide then this is the tour for you!
Ric from Elevate Wine Tours took us (a group of 7 girls) on an excellent tour of the Mornington Peninsula.
We were picked up on time from our apartment in Fitzroy in a luxurious Merc Van and safely driven in to our first destination, Yabby Lake Winery.
It’s a beautiful vineyard with creative art sculptures situated on the grounds. At the bar, we got to sample all of the wines. Loved the wines and the friendliness of the staff there.
Next stop was the Rare Hare at Willow Creek Winery where we got to have a sneak peak of the Jackalope Hotel’s Doot Doot Doot Restaurant where there’s 10,000 lamp chandelier’s on the roof. From there, we walked around the corner to experience the excellent selection of wines at Willow Creek Winery that were offered for tasting by the head wine maker’s husband.
After the wine tasting, we were treated to a gourmet shard lunch at the Rare Hare Restaurant that is situated right next to the wine tasting bar. Now, this food is to die for! Loved the shared platters that kept coming out and the glass of wine that was part of our lunch deal. The staff are really attentive and super friendly.
If you have time, check out the cloakroom on your way to the toilets. It’s an eye opener!!
Our 3rd stop was then onto the very scenic Port Phillip Estate.
This winery is gobsmacking! The views are astounding and the selection of wines offered were crisp and full flavoured. The views on the balcony are totally picture postcard.
We then moved onto Whispering Vines at Trofero Estate where we got to sample all the wines. It’s a gorgeous boutique vineyard that is known to be the biggest producer of Terracotta Wines in the Southern Hemisphere.
Our last stop was the beach where we got to check out the rainbow-coloured bathing boxes! What a colourful background for our selfies!!
In all the places that we visited, Ric was most professional. Every winery that we visited knew that were were arriving as they had our wine tasting glasses all ready for us when we waked through the door. They all knew who Ric was and that made us feel warmly welcomed.
Ric organised the whole tour for us and he selected the best destinations that suited our needs (some of the girls are very fussy with wine and food ..LOL..)
Thank you Ric for making our visit from the West so fabulous and fun!
